The Bowery Electric presents Vuzz and Midnight Machines

TUESDAY, AUGUST 30, 2022 AT 6:30 PM

Krikor Daglian and Krisana Soponpong met in the basement of a Lower East Side tenement building when their bands heard each other playing through the walls, loved it and decided they needed to meet. A friendship ensued between Kris and Krikor as they pursued their separate projects, little realizing that a decade later they would find themselves at the end of the road with their current bands and ready to try something different. As New York City, and soon the world, suddenly found itself locked down due to COVID-19, Kris and Krikor started sending each other tracks they had been working on. Collaborating remotely, they pursued a sound that mixed 90s alt rock with their love of dance and electronic music and current day pop. Inspired by a range of artists such as LCD Soundsystem, CHVRCHES, The Rapture, Phoenix, Sophie, Bloc Party, Tegan and Sara, and Daft Punk. Midnight Machines are constantly on the hunt for new inspiration.

This Indie Electronica duo and vanlife couple create high-spirited dance tracks, smoky down-tempo jams, and art-house grooves… an eclectic sound that has been compared to MGMT, Phantogram, LCD Soundsystem, The Chromatics, Air, Portishead, and Siouxie and the Banshees. Vuzz travels full-time across the US, promoting their debut LP. Their expanded, yet fully portable rig enables them to play in places where other bands can’t: the beaches of Moonrise Kingdom Bay, the Painted Hills of Oregon’s high desert, and the cliffs of Maine’s Acadia National Park, to name a few. They combine their artistic and travel passions on their Instagram page—creating music, videos, artwork, and social media—sharing their journey with the world.
